A drone equipped with an obstacle avoidance system dodge the blows of an amateur fencer.
To prove the effectiveness of their obstacle avoidance system implemented on a drone, Stanford University researchers have donned a fencing outfit. To test this stereoscopic vision algorithm that allows a Quadrocopter to detect and avoid obstacles while flying at nearly 50 km/h in total autonomy, a man will try to touch the machine with a foil.
The drone then perfectly dodge the blows of amateur fencer. A technology that could improve the drones performance in dense urban or natural environments.
